ISRT students at ISI World Statistics Congress, Ajmery Jaman receives Jan Tinbergen Award

ISRT students have recently attended the 60th ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC) in Rio de Janeiro from 26 to 31 July 2015. The newly joined ISRT faculty member Ms. Ajmery Jaman has received the first prize of the 2015 Jan Tinbergen Awards for young statisticians from developing countries for her paper ‘A Bias-Corrected Approach to Rotnitzky-Jewell Criteria for Appropriate Correlation Structure Selection in Generalized Estimating Equations’. Dr. Mahbub Latif and Dr. Wasimul Bari of University of Dhaka, and Dr. Abdus Wahed of University of Pittsburgh co-authored this paper. ISRT family congratulates her for her brilliant achievement. This years Jan Tinbergen Awards winners with the newly elected president of ISI Dr. Pedro Silva.

 

Among other ISRT students Mohammad Junayed Bhuyan (paper title: ‘Generalized Bernoulli Model for Correlated Binary Responses with an Application to Child Nutrition Data in Bangladesh.’), Sangita Paul (paper title: ‘A comparative analysis of clustering algorithms to identify the homogeneous rainfall gauge stations of Bangladesh.’) and Afrin Rumana (paper title: ‘C-statistic for evaluating the added predictive ability in the binary risk models: An alternative to the existing approaches.’) also presented their works at the ISI conference.
