The Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), University of Dhaka, successfully conducted a training program titled “Stata for Applied Statistics and Data Science” from November 10 to December 1, 2024. Designed to build both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the program attracted participants from various sectors, including academia, research, and industry.
The 16-session program provided hands-on training in statistical analysis and practical application using Stata software, with a focus on large-scale survey data, big data analysis, machine learning algorithms, and applied research methods. Group activities encouraged participants to solve real-world research problems collaboratively and present their findings, fostering an interactive and engaging learning environment. Participants praised the program for its balance of theory and practice, citing the value of detailed training manuals and capstone group projects. The sessions were facilitated by ISRT’s expert faculty, ensuring a supportive and enriching experience.
At the closing ceremony held on December 8, 2024, ISRT’s Director, Professor Dr. Tamanna Howlader, awarded certificates, commended participants for their dedication, and emphasized the importance of mastering modern data science tools. Chief Coordinator of the program, Professor Dr. Israt Rayhan praised the program’s success in meeting the needs of aspiring data scientists and researchers, while faculty member, Professor Dr. Hasinur Rahaman Khan highlighted ISRT’s commitment to advancing statistical education.
