In an exhilarating display of strategic prowess and mental acumen, the Inter-University Chess Championship 2023 took place from September 14 to September 17 at the Bangladesh Chess Federation. The tournament witnessed fierce competition as twelve teams from various universities participated, but it was Dhaka University that emerged as the undisputed champion. The event commenced with an auspicious opening ceremony, graced by the presence of the honorable Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka. 

After four days of intense battles on the chessboard, Dhaka University clinched the coveted championship title, cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in the world of inter-university chess. As a reward for their remarkable performance, Dhaka University received a prize money of 1,00,000 Tk. The prize-giving ceremony, which took place on September 18, was a jubilant occasion where the winning team, Dhaka University, received their well-deserved accolades and prize money. 

One of the standout performers of the tournament was Shohel Mia, a talented student hailing from the 24th batch of Applied Statistics at Dhaka University. With an outstanding score of 6 out of 7, Shohel Mia not only became the best player within the Dhaka University team but also secured the title of the best player on the Dhaka University board. His exceptional skill and strategic prowess were instrumental in leading his team to victory.
