We are delighted to inform you that ISRT students have received One Paper award and Two Poster awards in the 2nd International Conference on Applied Statistics (ICAS) 2019 organized by Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT) during December 27-29, 2019 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka. In the conference, applicant’s submissions were evaluated for awards: Springer-Journal of Statistical Research (JSR) Outstanding Paper Award and Best Poster Award.
A paper written by two ISRT MS students of batch 21 Bushra Uddin and Md. Faisal Ahamad Seyam along with their supervisor Dr. Md Hasinur Rahaman Khan, Associate Professor of ISRT has received the Springer-JSR Outstanding Paper Award in the 3rd place. Cash amount USD 200 along with a certificate has been given to the awardee by the conference chairman of the ICAS 2019. Their paper title was “On the performance of Newton-Raphson, modified Newton-Raphson, Fisher scoring and EM algorithm techniques under maximum likelihood estimation”. MS student Sabbir Ahmed Hemo (batch 21) with his supervisor Dr. Md. Israt Rayhan, Professor of ISRT, has received the Best Poster Award for their poster entitled “Predicting malnutrition status of under-five children using tree-based models”. Also, current MS student, Abdul Basit (batch 22) with his supervisor Dr. Md. Israt Rayhan, Professor of ISRT has received the Best Poster Award for their poster entitled “Assessing vulnerability to poverty using downside mean semi-deviation approach: An empirical analysis on a balanced panel from rural Bangladesh”.
It can be noted that total three participants were awarded the Springer- JSR outstanding paper award and five participants were awarded the best poster award.
