The University of Dhaka Senate, at its meeting held on 29 June 2026, formally approved the renaming of the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT) to the Institute of Applied Statistics and Data Science (IASDS).

The new name reflects the Institute’s continued commitment to excellence in Applied Statistics while recognizing its expanding academic and research activities in Data Science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data-driven innovation.

This historic milestone represents an important step in the Institute’s evolution and its vision of preparing future graduates and researchers to address real-world challenges through statistics, data science, and evidence-based decision-making.

The Institute extends its sincere gratitude to its faculty members, students, alumni, officers, staff, and well-wishers for their continued support in achieving this significant milestone. As part of the transition, the Institute will gradually update its official identity across all academic, administrative, and digital platforms.
